Eastern Florida State Sweeps Doubleheader Against CF

OCALA, FL — The College of Central Florida softball team faced a challenging day at home on Saturday, dropping both games of a doubleheader against Eastern Florida State College. Despite flashes of offensive production in the opening game, the Patriots were unable to keep pace with the Titans' bats, falling 11-4 in the first matchup and 11-0 in game two.

Game 1: Titans Pull Away Late to Secure Opener

In the first game of the day, Eastern Florida State utilized a steady offensive attack to defeat the Patriots 11-4. The Titans established an early lead with two runs in the first inning and three more in the third. The Pats closed the gap by scing three in the fourth to pull within a run however the Titans broke the game open with a four-run sixth inning.

The Patriots' offense was highlighted by Hope Jordan, who drove in two runs, and Abbie Roach, who added an RBI of her own. Samantha Albert and Lusmari Segura each contributed a double to the CF effort.

On the mound, Alexis Meneely took the loss, pitching five innings and allowing seven runs (six earned) while striking out two. Naomi Meyer provided two innings of relief, surrendering four runs on four hits.

Game 2: Titans Dominate in Shutout Win

The second game saw Eastern Florida State carry their momentum forward, securing an 11-0 victory in five innings. The Titans' offense exploded for eight runs in the third inning alone to effectively seal the contest.

CF struggled to find a rhythm at the plate against Eastern Florida's Isabella Rosales, who tossed a complete-game three-hit shutout. Madison McCabe recorded a double for the Patriots, providing one of the few bright spots in the game.

Olivia Douglas started for the Patriots and was charged with the loss after yielding ten runs in three innings of work. Naomi Meyer pitched the final two frames, allowing one unearned run and holding the Titans hitless during her relief appearance.

The Patriots have now completed their first round of play against every opponent in the Citrus Conference. They are set to begin the next round of the season on Tuesday, hosting Hillsborough Community College for a doubleheader starting at 2 p.m.
