The College of Central Florida softball team split a hard-fought doubleheader against St. Petersburg College on Tuesday in Ocala. The Patriots edged out a 3-2 victory in Game 1 before falling 9-8 in extra-innings in Game 2.

Game 1: Patriots 3, Titans 2

In the opener, Tiara Chavis delivered a dominant performance in the circle to secure her seventh win of the season. Chavis pitched a complete game, striking out 11 batters while allowing just three hits and two earned runs over seven full innings of work.

The Patriots' offense was timely, pushing across two crucial runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to break a late tie and secure the 3-2 win. Kaylee Riles, Abbie Roach, and Vayla Mansfield each tallied an RBI for Central Florida. Riles also provided an extra-base spark by lacing a double during the contest.

Game 2: Titans 9, Patriots 8 (8 Innings)

The second game evolved into a back-and-forth slugfest that required eight innings to decide. Despite a late offensive push, the Patriots were narrowly defeated 9-8.

Kaylee Riles continued her stellar day at the plate, launching a home run and driving in a team-high four runs. Samantha Albert also contributed to the power surge, crushing a home run of her own and collecting two RBIs.

In the circle, Olivia Douglas started for the Patriots, tossing five innings and allowing just two earned runs on four hits. Alexis Meneely stepped in for two innings of relief, striking out three. The Titans' offense ultimately proved to be too muchand scored in the top of the 8th to secure the lead.

The Patriots will next play a non conference matchup at Florida Gateway College on Tuesday, March 18.
