The College of Central Florida Softball team got two big wins over Hillsborough on Tuesday afternoon. They scored early and often in game one to defeat the Hawks 11-3. Madison VanAllen had a big day at the plate driving in four runs on two hits to lead the offense. She hit a home run in the first to score three runs and doubled in the second to drive in another run. The Pats scored six in the second inning. Gabby Rascher hit a solo home run, Leah Clark triple with the bases loaded to score three and Amber Daugherty doubled to score another run.
Morgyn Stevens pitched three innings. She only allowed two hits and one run while striking out two. Kaylie Cline finished the game in the circle throwing one and two-thirds innings in relief.
In game two it was Leah Clark who led the offense with four RBIs on three hits. She hit her 9th home run of the season in the third inning which drove in three runs. The Pats got off to an early lead scoring six runs in the first inning. VanAllen hit her second three-run home run of the day in the first. In the second inning the Pats plated 10 runs. Caitlin Blakenship hit a three-run home run to left field. Sarah Stewart hit a two-run home run to left field. Daugherty and Blakenship both doubled to drive in two more each. The offense totalled 15 hits in the game to secure a 20-1 victory.
Hailey Pyle earned the win. She allowed just two hits and one run in two innings of work, striking out one. Skyler Hodges pitched three innings in relief of Pyle. She did not allow any runs or hits and struck out two Hawks.
The College of Central Florida Patriots improved to 22-24 on the season and will next play at Florida Southwestern on Thursday, April 17th.
