CF Softball Takes Two from Santa Fe on the Road

The College of Central Florida and the Sante Fe Saints finally took the field on Tuesday to play the last two games of their conference series after two rain outs. In Game one the Patriots had an xciting comback in the final inning. Down 8-6, Brooke Roberts led off with a single and Hannah Meyer walked. Emily Konz hit a deep fly ball to right field that allowed Roberts and pinch runner Millstein to tag up and advance. A bad throw on the play allowed Roberts to score and Millstein advanced to third. Avery Lawson followed up with a triple to tie the score at 8. Cameron Wolfenden hit a two-strike single to score Lawson and then Katie Hogue followed up with a two run home run, her second of the game, to put the Patriots up by three. Ashley Martinec closed out the bottom of the inning with three up and three down to secure the win for CF. She pitched the final three innings giving up only one run on three hits.

Katie Hogue - 2-3, 3 R, 5 RBI, 2 HR

The Patriots beat the Saints 5-3 in game to to secure the series sweep. Hailey Guffey kept the Santa Fe hitters in check throwing a complete game striking out eight batters while allowing only three runs on six hits. The Pats offense collected 11 hits and only struck out once. Gianna Guerriero hit her sixth home run if the season in the seventh and Hanah Meyer had an RBI double in the Patriots big fifth inning to score Brooke Roberts. 

With the two wins CF improves to 3-0 in conference and 33-8 overall. Their next games will be on Thursday when they take on Seminole State on the road to start their 3-game conference series.
