OCALA-- The College of Central Florida volleyball team remains undefeated after going 4-0 on the weekend at the CF Volleyball Invitational.

FCSAA No. 4 Patriots (5-0) opened up the two-day tournament with a straight-sets sweep (25-23, 25,13, 25-5) over Gulf Coast State College before setting up a match with the two-time defending state and national champions Miami Dade College. CF rallied after dropping set one 20-25 to defeat the Sharks in five sets, 20-25, 25-19, 21-25, 25-17, 15-10.

Newcomer Giovana Larregui had a breakout performance against MDC recording a team-high 11 kills. Returner Kariema Rodriguez secured her first double-double of the season with 11 kills and 21 digs and Ocala native Essence Bell, 2018 FHSAA Class 7A State Volleyball Player of the Year, collected a team-high 29 digs in the upset. Freshman setter Suelen Caroline guided the ship at the net, notching 28 assists.

On day two of the invitational, CF continued its dominance sweeping Gateway College (25-10, 25-15, 25-17) and Florida SouthWestern State College (25-18, 25-17, 26-24) in straight sets. 

The Lady Patriots head to St. Petersburg College on Tuesday for a 6 p.m. match before returning home on Thursday to host Florida State College at Jacksonville at 6 p.m.
