The College of Central Florida Patriots (1-4) fell behind early against the Eastern Florida State College Titans (1-3-1) and could not recover in their 6-1 loss in Melbourne on Wednesday. A first inning three run homerun by the Titans' Drew Stubbs gave EFSC a 4-0 lead. An Ivan Zambrano solo shot in the second inning and a Patriot error in the third inning upped the lead to 6-0.
Nick Feretic (1-0) started for the Titans and went five strong innings allowing only one hit, one run, andstruck out six Pats. The only run was a solo home run by Patriots' designated hitter, John Marant. It was Marant's first home run of the season.
Aaron Combs (0-1) started for the Pats and gave up the early runs, but the CF staff settled in to allow only one run over the final six innings. Yehoshua Garcia (2 IP, 1R, 3H, 3K), Connor Godwin (2.2 IP, 0R, 3H, 4K), and Parker Seay (1.1 IP, 0R, 0H, 3K) gave the Patriots a chance for a comeback, but the Pats bats remained silent.
