After splitting the first two games of the series with Lake Sumter the College of Central Florida Patriots (26-6, 5-1) had to rally from a five run ninth inning deficit to defeat the Lake Hawks, 10-9. With the bases loaded, two outs and two strikes Kevin Kilpatrick blooped a single to right field scoring Matt Cedarburg with the winning run. Kilpatrick said; "I fought off a couple of nasty sinkers to get behind, but I was able to find a hole to win it for my team." The Pats tied the score at 9 when Miguel Useche singled scoring Jeslyn Whitehead. In the ninth the Pats tallied six runs on eight hits. The Pats had 21 hits on the day with Kilpatrick (4-6, RBI), Whitehead (4-5, 3R, 2 RBI) and Useche (3-5, RBI) leading the way.
Ben Chestnutt (3-0) was the winning pitcher throwing two shutout innings giving up no hits and striking out four.
Head Coach Marty Smith said "The last time a CF team had a six run ninth inning rally was back in the 1997 state tournament."
The Lake Hawks fall to (15-13, 5-4). The Patriots will be back in action on Wednesday, 3:00 PM vs. Webber JV.
