OCALA—College of Central Florida baseball team continues its offensive dominance as it powered past St. Petersburg College 22-6 on Monday afternoon in Clearwater.
CF put up six runs in the first and eighth innings and sprinkled 10 more runs in between to give head coach Marty Smith his 697th win of his career, just three wins shy of becoming one of two active head coaches in the state of Florida to reach win 700.
Luis Medina crushed two more home runs and drove in five to bring his league-leading home run total to eight. Marcus Judd (3-for-4, 4 RBI) and Yorvis Torrealba (3-for-6, 3 RBI) also led the Patriot offense in the 17-hit day.
Sophomore Ben Koff threw four scoreless innings and allowed just three hits to pick up his third win of the season before giving way to relievers Hunter Bowling and Austin Nickle.
Nickle closed out the second half of the game, not allowing an earned run on five hits and struck out three.
CF will return home for a series of home games starting on Tuesday when they host CCBC-Catonsville at 3 p.m. The Patriots will welcome South Georgia State College and Florida Southwestern State College on Friday and Saturday.
CF will face off against Georgia State on Friday at 2 p.m. and then again at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. It will close out the weekend against FSW at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
