Ocala, FL-- The College of Central Florida baseball team held off a late charge by State College of Florida-Manatee and posted an 8-7 win on Wednesday afternoon at Goodlett Field.
CF, which won its third straight game, held a four-run lead heading into the ninth inning, before the No. 3 Manatees scored three times to pull to within one.
From there, Boomer Biegalski came in and recorded a strikeout with a runner on second to end the game.
No. 10 CF was led at the plate by David Lugo (3-for-5, two runs scored, two RBI, double), N.J. Williamson (1-for-5, two RBI, double),Christian Khawam (3-for-5, RBI), Connor Crile (1-for-3, two runs scored, RBI) and Colby Brown (1-for-3, two runs scored).
Weston Pope earned the win on the mound for CF, after allowing two runs on eight hits in six innings.
The sophomore from Crystal River walked just one and struck out two.
CF avenged a 12-2 road loss earlier this season to the Manatees.
The Patriots host Eastern Florida State in a doubleheader on Saturday at noon.
