#CFVB SWEEPS NJCAA NO. 17 DAYTONA, CLINCHES STATE TOURNAMENT BIRTH

OCALA-- The College of Central Florida women's volleyball team is state tournament bound after sweeping Daytona State College on Thursday night at Patriot Gym.

The Lady Patriots defeated NJCAA No. 17/ FCSAA No. 4 Daytona State in straight sets (25-16, 25-18, 28-26) to secure its eighth consecutive FCSAA Volleyball State Tournament appearance.

CF got out to an early 2-0 lead, but found itself down 16-21 late in the third set. With some timely blocks and kills, coupled with DSC errors, the Lady Patriots would rally from down by as many as five to take set three 28-26 and secure the sweep (watch video below for final two points).

Freshman outside hitter Amanda Lebioda led the CF offense with 13 kills on the night, while outside hitter Marina Cruz added nine kills and a team-high 13 digs.

Veronica Brod Farias (4 blocks) and Barbora Romancova (3 blocks) teamed up for seven total blocks on the night, while Brod Farias also notched six kills. Setter Maria Idjilov guided the ship with 37 assists.

With the win, CF solidified its eighth straight tournament appearance since the program's inception eight years ago.

The Lady Patriots will open up the state tournament on November 2 against two-time defending state and national champions Miami Dade College at 10 a.m. at the Bradenton Convention Center. Click here for the complete state tournament bracket.
