OCALA—The College of Central Florida women's volleyball team pulled out a five-set thriller over Florida State College at Jacksonville on Tuesday night at Patriot Gym.

CF trailed 0-1 after a 23-25 first-set loss, but answered back with a dominant 25-15 second-set win to even the score at 1-1. In the third set, FSCJ went on a 4-0 run late in the set to move ahead 24-22. CF would tie it at 24-24 with a service ace on the line, but FSCJ matched CF's ace with one of their own three points later to take set three 27-25.

The Lady Patriots took a commanding 23-15 lead in the fourth set before the Blue Wave went on a 4-0 run to pull to within four. CF's Marina Cruz sealed the fourth-set win two points later with a kill down the line.

To the fifth we went.

It was all Patriots in the final set. Carolin Santa laid down the cross-court kill to close out the fifth set 15-7 and secure a Patriot win.

With the win, FCSAA No. 6 CF improves to 6-6 on the season.

Sophomore Marina Cruz had a dominant performance, recording a career-high 20 kills, while Santa notched her fourth double-double of the season (10 kills, 18 digs). Libero Kariema Rodriguez had a stand-out defensive performance with 27 digs, her second-straight 20+ dig performance, and middle blocker Veronica Brod Farias tied a season-high with seven blocks at the net.

CF will welcome St. Petersburg College to Patriot Gym on Thursday. Match is set for 7 p.m.
