#CFVB BATTLED IN FOUR MATCHES AT POLK INVITATIONAL

OCALA- The College of Central Florida women's volleyball team finished a weekend of tough competition at the Polk State Invitational in Winter Haven, Fla. 

The Lady Patriots (4-5) gutted out a five-set win over Indian River State College to start off the two-day event. CF handed the Pioneers its first loss of the season. 
 
Marina Cruz recorded her second double-double of the season with 11 kills and a career-high 23 digs. Kariema Rodriguez led all scorers with 12 kills, while Carolin Santa joined the FCSAA 25-dig Club with a career-high 29 digs. 
 
CF went on to drop matches against Hillsborough Community College (17-25, 23-25, 19-25), Florida State College at Jacksonville (23-25, 25-27, 25-15, 22-25), and two-time defending national champions Miami Dade College (15-25, 19-25, 19-25). 
 
Freshman Ana Arsenic recorded a season-high 19 kills against FSCJ on Saturday, most kills by a Patriot player this season. 
 
On the weekend, Cruz led the offense with 33 kills in four matches, while Santa led all defenders with 71 digs. Santa recorded double-digit digs in three of four matches. 
 
CF will have the week off before heading to Gainesville on Saturday for a tri-match at Santa Fe College. The Lady Patriots will face Florida Gateway College at 10 a.m. followed by SF at noon.
