OCALA-- The College of Central Florida 2018 volleyball schedule has been released. New head coach Israel Delgado and the Lady Patriots will open up the preseason with a pair of scrimmages against Div. II powerhouses Florida Southern College, 2017 Div. II National Runner-Ups, and University of Tampa.
The Lady Patriots will cap off the preseason with a Red and Blue Intersquad match on Aug. 19 at 3 p.m. at Patriot Gym. This match is free and open to the public. After the match, there will be a meet and greet session with the 2018 squad where the ladies will be signing and giving out calendar posters.
CF will open up the regular season Aug. 24-25 at the Hillsborough Community College Invitational in Tampa where the Patriots will play four matches in two days, including a match against defending state and national champions Miami Dade College.
The seven-time Mid-Florida Conference Champions' schedule is loaded with quality matches from top to bottom, including 11 matches against NJCAA Top 25 programs and 17 matches against FCSAA Top 10 opponents. CF will face off against two-time defending national champs Miami Dade three times throughout the course of the season.
The Lady Patriots will look to make a trip back to the NJCAA national tournament after a two-year drought, but it won't be easy navigating through the ever-tough Mid-Florida Conference.
The MFC is tabbed as one of the toughest conferences in the state of Florida, with three of four programs being ranked Top 20 nationally in 2017. The Mid-Florida Conference will have a new look in 2018 with Lake-Sumter State College reclassifying to division II. The 2018 conference will include: Polk State College, Daytona State College, Eastern Florida State College, and CF.
