OCALA-- College of Central Florida women's volleyball team swept Eastern Florida State College in straight sets (25-16, 25-18, 25-19) on Thursday night at Patriot Gym. With the win, the Patriots clinched their seventh-straight Mid-Florida Conference title and the MFC's No. 1 spot in the upcoming FCSAA state tournament.

CF (14-7, 6-2 MFC) needed wins against Lake-Sumter State College and Eastern Florida this week to clinch the outright conference title, but with the loss on Tuesday night in Leesburg, CF was again tied with Polk State College and Daytona State College atop the MFC standings.

It all came down to the Daytona-Polk match on Thursday night in Daytona.

Polk defeated the Falcons in five sets improving to 6-2 in the conference along with CF. After tabulating the Mid-Florida point-differential tiebreaker, CF edged out Polk for the conference title and MFC No. 1 seed. 

Marina Cruz led the offensive attack for CF in the win, recording 13 kills. Veronica Brod Farias added eight kills and Carolin Santa had seven. At the net, Brod Farias and Taynan Paiva each recorded four total blocks, while Nayrelis Pantojas had 18 digs on the night.  

With the win, the Lady Patriots will make their seventh-straight state tournament appearance on November 3 at the Bradenton Civic Center. CF will face the Panhandle No. 2 team at 1 p.m.

CF will host a pair of tri-matches leading up to the state tournament, with the first one this Saturday. The Lady Patriots will host Palm Beach State College at 10 a.m. and Pensacola State College at 2 p.m. Palm Beach and Pensacola will play each other in the middle match at Noon.
