#CFVB GOES 2-0 ON DAY 2 OF FSCJ TOURNAMENT

OCALA--NJCAA No. 7 College of Central Florida women's volleyball team went 2-0 on the day at the FSCJ Tournament of Champions to close out the weekend 3-1.

CF (6-2, 1-0 MFC) kicked off the morning against Hillsborough Community College, sweeping the Hawks in straight sets (25-21, 26-24, 25-19). 

Kristin Schemm led the offensive attack with 13 kills, while Carolin Santa, Taynan Paiva and Veronica Brod Farias added seven kills each. Defensively, Paiva recorded five total blocks (two solo, three assists) and Nayrelis Pantojas notched 15 digs.

The Lady Patriots faced NJCAA No. 16 Monroe College (N.Y.) in the second match of the day, taking the Mustangs to five sets before securing a 3-2 (23-25, 25-13, 21-25, 25-12, 15-11) victory.

Julia Cardoso recorded 42 of the team's 48 total assists. Santa and Marina Cruz had career highs for CF, notching 14 kills each. Libero Pantojas provided solid defense on the back line, recording 17 digs while Santa added 15.

CF will head to Polk State College on Tuesday (Sept. 26) for their second conference match of the season. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
