#CFVB FALLS TO ST. PETE IN STRAIGHT SETS

OCALA-- The College of Central Florida women's volleyball team fell 3-0 at St. Petersburg College on Tuesday evening after taking the court for the first time in almost a month.

The Lady Patriots' last match was a 3-1 victory on August 26 at Florida State College at Jacksonville. Due to Hurricane Irma, CF's previous five matches were canceled, including their match against St. Pete that was rescheduled for Tuesday evening.

CF opened the match on a 11-3 run, but the Titans rallied back to win the first set 26-24. SPC would go on sweep the Lady Patriots 25-16, 25-21 in the final two sets.

"We weren't disciplined on our blocking or defense so we let them to run their offense the way they wanted to," said head coach Angel Gonzalez. "We have dust off the rust and clean a few things up before our conference opener against Daytona."

Veronica Brod Farias led CF at the net with nine kills, while Buse Ene added seven kills and Kristin Schemm and Taynan Paiva each notched six. Ene and Schemm also tallied six digs apiece.

CF will be back on the court on Thursday as they travel to Daytona State College for the first conference match of the season. Match is set for 7 p.m.
