OCALA--College of Central Florida volleyball player Nathaly Alvarez has signed her letter of intent to join the Barry University volleyball team in the fall.
The two-time NJCAA All-American setter is only the third freshman in CF's history to receive all-american honors as a freshman. CF's Vanessa Benke and Julymar Otero were the only other freshman to receive this honor. Alvarez had a stellar freshman campaign in which she set the record for most kills or digs by a setter in a single match or season.
In her two years as a Patriot, Alvarez recorded 15 double-doubles and seven triple-doubles. She logged 20 or more assists in 56 matches as a Patriot, putting up a career-high 61 assists, two assists shy of the CF single-game record, versus Snow College as a freshman. She also recorded 10 or more kills in 12 matches as a setter, hammering a career-high 17 kills versus Palm Beach State College as a sophomore.
Alvarez finished her Patriot career as a two-time NJCAA All-American, FSCAA All-State, Mid-Florida Conference First Team and FCSAA All-Tournament team honoree.
