Volleyball rolls past Gulf Coast, hosts Santa Fe on Tuesday

OCALA-- The College of Central Florida volleyball team rolled to their sixteenth consecutive victory on Saturday afternoon after defeating Gulf Coast State College in straight sets.

The FCSAA No. 1 team cruised to an early 25-8 first-set victory over the Commodores before having to fight off two final close sets. In the end, CF defeated GCSC 25-8, 26-24, 25-22.

Rafaela Fonseca led the offensive attack with nine kills and eight digs, while Taynan Paiva added eight kills and Alyssa Gage had seven. Reigning FCSAA Setter of the Week Ivona Vojvodic recorded27 assists.

CF will be back at home on Tuesday night to close out conference play against rival Santa Fe College.  This is the team's Dig Pink match to raise awareness for breast cancer. Admission is just $3 at the door. All proceeds from the match will go to a former CF athlete's mom who was just diagnosed with breast cancer.

Following the volleyball match, the CF men's basketball team will be in action for the first time this year. They will play former NBA star Jason Williams and Pedro's Posse in a scrimmage starting roughly at 9:30 p.m.
