Volleyball downs Lake-Sumter, Vojvodic named Player of the Week

OCALA--The College of Central Florida women's volleyball team needed just over an hour to sweep Lake-Sumter State College in straight sets on Tuesday night at Patriot Gym to remain undefeated in the Mid-Florida Conference.

The Lady Patriots, ranked No. 1 in the state and conference, held the LakeHawks to a combined 24 points over three sets to take the straight-sets victory 25-11, 25-8, 25-6. As a team, CF committed just two hitting errors on the night.

CF was led by reigning FCSAA Player of the Week Ivona Vojvodic, who recorded her second double-double of the season, with 38 assists and 10 digs, while sophomore outside hitter Rafaela Fonseca laid down her fifth double-double of the season with 16 kills and 11 digs. Chelsea Chavers (17 digs) and Buse Ene (11 kills) were also key contributors for the Lady Patriots.

Vojvodic was named FCSAA Volleyball Player of the Week earlier Tuesday for her play during the week of October 3. She helped lead CF to a 3-1 victory over conference rival Daytona State and sole possession of first place in the MFC. She posted a .750 hitting percentage and recorded her first double-double of her college career with 31 assists and 15 digs.

CF travels to Florida State College at Jacksonville on Thursday, but will return home for a pair of matches on Friday and Saturday. They host Pensacola State College on Friday at 6 p.m. and Eastern Florida State College on Saturday at 2 p.m.
