Patriots down Lake-Sumter in straight sets

OCALA--The College of Central Florida volleyball team picked up their second-straight conference win, defeating Lake-Sumter State College in straight sets on Thursday night in Leesburg.

The Lady Patriots, ranked No. 4 in the state, routed the LakeHawks 25-23, 25-23, 25-21 to improve to 11-4 on the season and 2-0 in Mid-Florida Conference play. CF is a perfect 13-0 all-time against Lake Sumter.

"It is always great to pull out a conference win, but we weren't at our best," said Siqueira. "We played at a slower than normal pace and couldn't make simple adjustments on defense. We will continue to clean things up as we gear up for our next conference match against FSCJ."

On the night, CF tallied 43 total kills and eight blocks. Outside hitters Kristin Schemm and Rafaela Fonseca led the Patriot offense with nine kills each. Nathaly Alvarez had 29 assists and added six kills.

CF will be back at home on Tuesday night as they host conference opponent Florida State College at Jacksonville. Match is set for 7 p.m.
