Volleyball opens conference with victory over Santa Fe

OCALA--The College of Central Florida volleyball team kicked off Mid-Florida Conference play Tuesday night, defeating rival Santa Fe College on the road.

CF, the reigning, five-time conference champions, defeated the Saints 3-1 (25-23, 34-36, 25-19, 25-16) on their home court, improving to 5-2 all-time against Santa Fe.

An up-tempo, high-powered offense appeared to be too much for Santa Fe.

Outside hitters Rafaela Fonseca and Buse Ene lead the offensive charge with 13 kills apiece, while Nathaly Alvarez tallied 30 assists, 17 digs and 11 kills to finish the match with her second triple-double on the season. Freshman libero Nayrelis Pantoja secured the backline with 27 digs.

CF will be back on the court tomorrow as they head to Lake-Sumter State for their second conference match of the season. The Lady Patriots will back at home on Tuesday, September 27 as they host conference opponent Florida State College at Jacksonville. Match time is slated for 7 p.m.
