Volleyball rolls past Broward

OCALA--The College of Central Florida volleyball team made easy work of Broward College, sweeping the Seahawks in straight sets on Friday night at Patriot Gym.

CF, ranked No. 3 in the state, needed just over an hour to defeat Broward 25-17, 25-14, 25-13 to improve to 9-4 on the season. Precise passing and solid performances from both setters set the tone in the win.

"The team played well tonight," said head coach Flavia Siqueira. "Several players stepped up and helped with positive numbers. Also, our passing was on point, which allowed our setters to create one-on-one situations for our hitters."

Sophomore setter Nathaly Alvarez led the way with 20 assists while freshman libero Nayrelis Pantoja dished out 12 digs and sophomore middle blocker Alyssa Gage threw down 10 kills. As a team, the Lady Patriots totaled a season-high 18 blocks with freshman Buse Ene notching 3 solo blocks.

CF kicks off conference play on Tuesday as they head on the road to take on rival Santa Fe College. They will return home Tuesday, September 27 to take on conference opponent Florida State College at Jacksonville.
