CASPER, WYO.-- The College of Central Florida volleyball team saw its season come to an end on Friday evening in the NJCAA National Tournament in Casper, Wyo.
The Patriots (27-14) knocked off Frank Phillips College in four sets to start the day, but fell in four sets in their nightcap against Hutchinson Community College.
CF, who lost in five sets to two-time defending NJCAA National Champion Blinn College on Thursday, stayed alive in the event with a strong effort across the lineup against Frank Phillips.
From there, the Patriots couldn't repeat their effort and fell to HCC.
Soares (13 kills), Azevedo (13 kills), Alvarez (32 assists) and Hagood (16 assists) led the way in the loss.
Despite returning just one player from last year's squad, the Patriots shook off a 1-3 start and advanced to the national tournament.
CF earned the No. 8 seed for nationals and also claimed its fifth straight conference title and earned third place in the state.
