OCALA--The College of Central Florida volleyball team earned the No. 8 seed for the upcoming NJCAA National Tournament in Casper, Wyoming.
The Patriots (26-12) finished third in the state and earned a trip to nationals with a win over Faulkner (Ala.) State this past Tuesday night.
CF has now qualified for the national tournament in four of the last five seasons.
After missing out last season, the Patriots made it back to the show.
Despite having just one player back from last year and a 1-3 start to the 2015 season, CF earned the outright championship in the always-tough Mid-Florida Conference.
The Patriots will face defending NJCAA National Champion No. 9 Blinn (Tx.) College in the opening round.
This marks the third consecutive season the two programs have met, both in the Tyler (Tex.) Invitational.
Blinn won in four sets two years ago and won via sweep in 2014.
CF is one of three programs from Region 8 to make the national tournament.
Hillsborough (No. 5) and Polk State (No. 6) also qualified for the national tournament out of Florida.
To earn its chance at the national tournament, the Patriots survived three elimination matches over the course of four days.
The final win over Faulkner saw Nathaly Alvarez (21 assists, six kills), Ashley Hagood (19 assists), Jussara Silva (eight kills), Julia Azevedo (eight kills), Rafaela Fonseca (six kills) and Yaralismar Rodriguez (12 digs) lead the way.
Over the course of the state tournament, Alvarez (148 assists, 42 digs, 41 kills), Silva (24 kills), Azevedo (47 kills), Hagood (51 assists), Fonseca (39 kills) and Rodriguez (70 digs) were the leaders.
