Volleyball sends sophomores off on a high note

OCALA--The College of Central Florida volleyball team ended the regular season with a 25-13, 25-15, 21-25, 25-15 over Pasco-Hernando on Wednesday night to send its two sophomores, Yaralismar Rodriguez and Ashley Hagood, off on a high note.

The Patriots closed the regular season at 23-10, 9-1 in Mid-Florida Conference play.

In the first set, CF got three straight kills from Jussara Silva during a 6-1 run and led 13-7. From there, the Patriots continued to pour it on in the double-digit rout.

CF kept the momentum going in the second set, as it scored five straight to start things off. After PHSC got to within 7-4, Silva blasted three consecutive kills and the rout was on once again.

The Patriots, though, fell after a late 5-2 run by PHSC in the third set.

CF, however, regained their composure and got out to a quick 5-1 lead in the fourth. In the end, the Patriots were too much to handle for Pasco-Hernando as they put together a third double-digit win to close out the final set 25-15.

CF will now prepapre for the FCSAA/ NJCAA Region 8 Volleyball State Tourmnament in Pensacola, Fla. They will open up against conference foe Santa Fe. During the regular season, the Patriots split a pair of matches with the Saints with the Patriots winning the most recent battling on Oct. 22.
