Volleyball falls in five to HCC

OCALA-- Playing for the sixth time in five days, the College of Central Florida volleyball team couldn't hold off a late charge by Hillsborough Community College.

The Hawks rallied from down 2-1 and picked up a 17-25, 25-18. 20-25, 25-19, 15-9 win over the Patriots (19-11).

CF, who lost its fourth straight match, was hit by a 5-0 run after the tiebreaker was tied at 6.

The Patriots will visit St. Johns River State tonight in a Mid-Florida Conference match.

CF, first in the MFC, got off to a strong start in the opening set, as Alyssa Gage record six kills, including four down the stretch.

After HCC tied the match, Jussara Silva led the Patriots with four kills during the third set and Gage's block ended things.

The hosts, however, couldn't stop the surge over the final two sets by the Hawks.

Gage led the offensive attack with 13 kills, while Silva and Madara Bajare each tallied 12.
