OCALA-- The College of Central Florida volleyball team's long awaited regular season home opener was a successful one.
After playing their first 19 matches away from home, the Patriots' home debut against FSC-Jacksonville was over quick, as they earned a 25-18, 25-18, 25-16 win.
CF (14-6, 3-0) remains atop the Mid-Florida Conference standings as the only unbeaten team after Daytona State defeated Santa Fe last night in four sets.
In the opener, CF jumped out to a 7-2 lead, but saw FSC-J battle back to within 15-12.
From there, a kill by Julia Azevedo sparked a 5-1 run and the Patriots weren't threatened the rest of the way.
CF then used a 6-0 run midway through the second set to turn a one-point edge into a 21-14 lead.
FSC-J, who was swept by CF in a tournament earlier this season, was also hit with a 6-0 run in the third set and lost for the 20th time in 21 meetings with the Patriots.
CF hosts St. Johns River on Thursday night at 6 p.m.
