TAMPA-- The College of Central Florida volleyball team is continuing to work out the kinks as they dropped three matches at the Hillsborough Kickoff Classic this past weekend in Tampa, Fla. The young Lady Patriots, who returns only one player from last year's squad, look to learn and grow from their missteps as they enter the second week of the season.
"There is a lot of room for improvement," said head coach Flavia Siqueira. "We were able to utilize several different lineups due to injuries and saw some positive points. Now we know what are weaknesses are as a team and what we need to work on to achieve our goals."
CF dropped a pair of hard-fought matches against St. Petersburg College and Hillsborough on the opening day of the tournament, before falling to Palm Beach State College on Saturday morning.
In the opener, the Patriots fell 18-25, 25-17, 20-25, 21-25 despite a strong performance from CF's Julia Azevedo, who finished with 19 kills and just one error.
