Alyssa Gage signs with CF Volleyball

OCALA-- As a high school freshman, Alyssa Gage knew she she wanted to play at the collegiate level.

"It became apparent to me that I could compete at the next level when I started receiving emails and awards from organizations across the nation," said Gage, three-sport standout in high school.

Recently, Gage, a senior at Lecanto Seven Rivers Christian, put the finishing touches on being able to realize her goal when she signed a letter-of-intent to play volleyball at the College of Central Florida.

"I was interested in playing at CF because it is just a great way to start off my volleyball career," Gage said. "They have a great volleyball program and I can grow as a player and maybe take that talent to the next level."

During the recruiting process, Gage looked at Warner University, University of Tampa and Saint Leo, as well as some smaller junior colleges.

Playing middle hitter and setter during her high school career enabled her to gain valuable experience in a variety of roles.

"Fans can expect to see a hard worker who is always willing to learn and improve," said the 5-foot-10 Gage, who also played basketball and softball in high school.

CF will be getting a top-flight athlete in Gage, who was named the Citrus County Chronicle's Female Athlete of the Year for the 2013-2014 school year.
