CF Volleyball downs Daytona in 4; Otero, Adami set single-game records

DAYTONA BEACH- Sparked by a pair of single-match school records, the College of Central Florida volleyball team came up with a big road win in Mid-Florida Conference for the second time in three days.

For the second straight match, Julymar Otero set the single-match school record with 32 kills, while Marina Adami set the single match school record for assists with 63, as the Patriots downed Daytona State 23-25, 25-19, 25-23, 25-22 on Thursday night.

Otero, who registered 27 kills to surpass the previous school record of 25 kills in the win over Santa Fe on Tuesday, had six kills and just one error in the third set to help turn things around.

Prior to Tuesday, Vanessa Benke and Raveen Golston shared the school record for kills. Benke achieved her total in 2012 against Hillsborough Community College, while Golston posted her total against Miami Dade last season.

Adami, meanwhile, surpassed the previous record for assists that she shared with Jordyn Wright of 62 and went over 2,400 assists for her career.

The sophomore, who achieved her previous career best in last year's state championship match against Hillsborough, is within striking range of Wright's career assist record.

Otero also added 14 digs and recorded two blocks, while making just four errors in the victory.

Amanda Saunders (eight kills, five blocks) and Yaralismar Rodriguez (22 digs) also played key roles in the win for CF, which has won four straight matches, three over nationally-ranked teams over the last six days.

CF (18-5, 4-1) improved to 2-0 against the Falcons in conference matches and has never lost a conference road match in its four years of existence.

Daytona State (20-9, 3-3) lost a five-set match to the Patriots in Ocala back in September and has lost four of its last six matches.

The Lady Patriots return to the court on Saturday as they go on the road to face St. Johns River at 4 p.m.
