CF Volleyball goes 2-1 at Miami Dade Tournament

MIAMI- The College of Central Florida volleyball team went 2-1 this weekend at the Miami Dade College Tournament.

The Patriots (11-3), ranked No. 8 in the nation and No. 2 in the state, started off the tournament with a 25-23, 25-20, 23-25, 25-19 win over nationally-ranked San Jacinto (Tex.), before following up with a loss to host MDC in three sets.

From there, CF downed FSC-Jacksonville 25-18, 20-25, 23-25, 26-24, 15-7.

Against FSC-J, Julymar Otero (20 kills, nine digs, two blocks), Marcela Frazzoni (16 digs, 10 kills) and Yara Rodriguez (22 digs) led the way.

In the win over San Jacinto, Frazzoni (14 kills, 12 digs), Otero (18 kills, two blocks) and Marina Adami (43 assists) led the way.

CF's loss to Miami Dade did have good efforts from Rodriguez (10 digs), Otero (10 kills), Amanda Saunders (three blocks) and Kadeeja Griffin (four blocks).

The Patriots will host Daytona State on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. for their Mid-Florida Conference opener.

CF and Daytona have played three times previously with each match going five sets.

The Patriots lead the all-time series 2-1, but lost to the Falcons in the regular season opener earlier this season.

Both CF and Daytona were swept by Miami Dade over the weekend.
