OCALA-- The College of Central Florida women's basketball team dropped its final regular season game, falling 92-69 to Santa Fe College on Wednesday night at Patriot Gym.
Santa Fe took a slim 48-41 lead into the half before powering past the Lady Patriots with 44 second-half points, including 16 three-pointers on the night, to solidify the win.
Freshman Desiree Mack recorded a season-high 24 points while grabbing 12 rebounds. Sophomore Tiahna Sears closed out her final regular season game with a double-double (13 points, 12 rebounds) while two other Patriot players finished in double-figures: Haylie Holloway (11 points) and Jada Francois Lubin (10 points).
CF finished fourth in Mid-Florida Conference play, but still has a chance to secure a state tournament birth.
The Lady Patriots will host FSC-Jacksonville on Monday night at 6 p.m. at Patriot Gym for the first round of the MFC playoffs. The winner of CF-FSCJ will travel to Daytona State College on Tuesday evening for a winner-takes-all match. Winner of Tuesday's match will clinch the second and final MFC state tournament spot in the upcoming FCSAA State Tournament, hosted by CF, March 6-9.
