OCALA-- The College of Central Florida women's basketball team fell to conference rival Daytona State College on Wednesday night at Patriot Gym.
The Lady Patriots held the Falcons to just 29 first-half points, after DSC put 40 first-half points against CF in their first meeting back on Jan. 12 in Daytona Beach.
But the Falcons could not be tamed.
DSC exploded for 46 points in the second half, shooting over 40 percent from the field and 85 percent from the line collectively, to defeat the Lady Patriots 75-55.
Turnovers and points off the bench proved pivotal.
CF turned the ball over 26 times in the game and Daytona received 31 points off the bench from its reserves, compared to CF's 16 points.
Sophomore center N'Mya Pierce recorded her second straight double-digit game, leading the Patriot offense with 16 points while grabbing six rebounds. Jada Francois Lubin added nine points and seven rebounds.
CF will be back in action on Saturday when it travels down I-75 for a conference doubleheader with Santa Fe College. Women will tip off at 2 p.m. and the men will follow at 4 p.m.
