OCALA—The College of Central Florida women's basketball team falters late as it falls 90-81 to Santa Fe College on Wednesday night at Patriot Gym.
The Lady Patriots were down 15-4 in the first quarter and went on a 11-0 run to tie it up 15-15. Freshman guard Deja Jackson knocked down a three-pointer with 30 seconds remaining in the first quarter to give CF its first lead of the game and carry a 20-17 lead into the second quarter.
CF went into the half up 46-38 and knocked down 8-of-10 from behind the arc in the first half.
The Lady Patriots came out firing in the second half, going up by as many as 20 points on the Saints in the third quarter.
But the Saints came marching back.
Santa Fe outscored CF 26-10 in the fourth quarter to rally past the Patriots for the conference win.
CF finished the game shooting 49 percent from the field and 60 percent from the three-point range.
Freshman guard Raquel Tolbert recorded a season-high 21 points in the loss, knocking down 3-of-5 three-pointers. Three other Patriot players finished with 14 points each: Desiree Mack, N'Mya Pierce, and Madi Toft.
Jada Francois Lubin finished with a season-high 11 assists and eight rebounds.
CF will return to the court on Saturday when it hosts a non-conference game with Trinity College at 5:30 p.m.
