OCALA-- The College of Central Florida women's basketball team fell to NJCAA No. 11 South Georgia Tech College on opening night at Patriot Gym.
The Lady Patriots (0-1) had a new look stepping onto the court for the first time this season, being guided by first-year head coach Andrea Mize. Mize comes to CF by way of Martin Methodist University in Tenn.
In the opening half, South Georgia took a 28-21 lead heading into halftime. The Jets broke things open in the second half, outscoring CF 43-20, en route to a 71-41 win. South Georgia's Bigue Sarr led all scorers with 20 points on the night.
CF freshman Raquel Tolbert led the way for the Patriot offense, putting up a team-high 14 points. Barry University transfer Jada Francois Lubin added nine points and grabbed a team-high eight rebounds.
CF looks to rebound when it hosts NJCAA national champions Tallahassee Community College on Tuesday evening at 5:30 p.m.
