Women's Basketball falls to Santa Fe

OCALA--The College of Central Florida women's basketball team fell to Mid-Florida Conference champions Santa Fe College on Wednesday night in Gainesville.

The Lady Patriots went into the half down eight and couldn't regain momentum as the Saints went on to win it 80-70.

Nicola Mathews drained a season-high six three-pointers en route to a career-high 25-point night, while Marcella Lamark dos Santos knocked down 18 points and Shakarri Mack added 15.

With the loss, the Patriots are tied with Florida State College at Jacksonville for second in the conference, but holds the season series tiebreaker 2-1 over the Blue Wave. A CF win against Hillsborough Community College on Saturday night would clinch second place and the MFC No. 2 seed in the upcoming FCSAA State Basketball Championship due to the head-to-head tiebreaker.

The Lady Patriots close out the regular season on Saturday night when they welcome HCC to town for sophomore night. Tip off is set for 5:30 p.m. There will be a short ceremony prior to tipoff to honor CF's five sophomores, including: Amanda Melosky, Charlisa Daniels, Fernanda Midaglia, Rita Jarque and Kiarah Mallory
