OCALA--The College of Central Florida women's basketball team notched their fourth consecutive, conference win as they rallied to defeat St. Petersburg College on Wednesday night at Patriot Gym.
The back-and-forth match up saw 14 lead changes throughout the game, with SPC holding a two-point lead heading into the fourth quarter. CF dropped 25 points in the last 10 minutes to rally past the Titans 85-79.
With the win, the Patriots join Florida State College at Jacksonville and SPC in a three-way tie for second in the Mid-Florida Conference. The top two teams from the MFC will receive an automatic bid to the FCSAA State Tournament in March.
Nicola Mathews led all scorers with 23 points. Amanda Melosky (19 points, 9 rebounds), Fernanda Midaglia (15 points), Shakarri Mack (14 points), and Kiarah Mallory (8 assists) backed Mathews in the win.
CF basketball hosts a pivotal conference doubleheader on Saturday when they welcome rival Santa Fe College. The women will tip off at 5:30 p.m. and the men follow at 7:30 p.m.
