Lady Patriots roll past HCC for first conference win

OCALA--The College of Central Florida women's basketball team got their first conference win of the season when they hosted Hillsborough Community College on Saturday afternoon at Patriot Gym.

The Lady Patriots entered Saturday's game 0-4 in Mid-Florida Conference play and was looking for a big win over the Hawks, who just upset conference rival Daytona State College earlier in the week.

CF's offense was red hot in the first half, shooting 60 percent from the field and 57 percent from behind the arc, taking a 16-point lead into halftime. They would go on to win it 77-62.

Nicola Mathews led all scorers with 19 points and six rebounds. Marcella Lamark dos Santos added 11 and Kiarah Mallory dished out nine assists.

CF basketball will be back in action on Wednesday, January 25 when they host a doubleheader against Florida State College at Jacksonville. The women will tip off at 6 p.m. and the men will follow at 8 p.m.
