Women's Basketball defeats HCC, Rocha puts up 30

OCALA--The College of Central Florida women's basketball team snapped a two-game losing streak with a key 88-74 road win over Hillsborough Community College on Wednesday night.

The Patriots (14-7, 2-2) were led by Marcella Rocha (30 points), Mariah Bankhead (14 points) and Keaundra Ivory (13 points).

CF led 48-40 at halftime and then outscored the Hawks by seven points in the third quarter.

From there, the Patriots extended their lead to over 20 points down the stretch.

The win was the fourth straight for CF over HCC and its fifth in the last six meetings with the Hawks.

Lineup changes also helped the Patriots, as they battled back from double-digit conference losses against Santa Fe and Daytona State.

It was also the first time in four conference games that CF led at halftime, as Rocha sparked the Lady Patriots a strong start.

The Patriots return to action on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. on the road against FSC-Jacksonville.
CF won the first meeting with the Blue Wave, as it rallied from down 15 in the second quarter to pull out the victory at home.
