OCALA--The College of Central Florida women's basketball team used a big third quarter to turn its game with St. Petersburg College into a rout.
The Patriots (11-4) outscored the Titans 32-15 during the third and improved to 6-0 at home this season with an 83-65 win.
CF used an early 13-0 run and led by 11 in the opening quarter, before SPC (2-10) got to within eight at halftime.
From there, the Patriots upped the pressure, which enabled it to finish with a 62-23 scoring edge in the paint.
Mariah Bankhead (16 points), Briana Mann (15 points), Marcella Rocha (11 points, seven rebounds, six assists, four steals), Amanda Melosky (10 points, 10 rebounds) and Tayler Miller (nine points) led the way for CF.
Kiarah Mallory added 10 assists for the Patriots, who finished with 27 assists on 35 baskets.
The Patriots also forced 24 turnovers and enjoyed numerous easy baskets in transition.
CF returns to action on December 29 when it faces Tallahassee Community College at the Daytona State Shootout.
