Women's Basketball falls to No. 1 Gulf Coast State

MELBOURNE- The College of Central Florida women's basketball team saw its seven-game winning streak come to an end at the hands of FCSAA No. 1 Gulf Coast State on Friday afternoon, falling 85-65 to the Commodores

"They jumped on us early," CF coach Tommy Jones said. "They took it to us at the start, but after halftime, we did manage to compete and play much better."

Thais Oliveira led CF with 22 points, while Tayler Miller added 18. Marcella Rocha scored nine for the Patriots, who fell to 0-2 on the year against Gulf Coast.

CF fell behind 24-12 after the opening quarter and was down by 22 at halftime.

Up next for CF is a rematch from last year's state semifinals against defending national champion Chipola on Saturday afternoon. Tipoff is at 2 p.m.
