OCALA-- The College of Central Florida women's basketball team rallied from a nine-point deficit late in the third quarter behind Thais Oliveira's career-high 34 points to earn a 79-77 win over Eastern Florida State on Wednesday night at Patriot Gym.
Oliveira scored 12 points in the fourth quarter and closed a 6-0 run late to push the Patriots ahead by five with 1:57 remaining.
Prior to that, De'Ja Jeffrey put CF ahead for good with a pair of free throws with 3:24 left.
Eastern Florida State got to within one with less than a minute and had a chance to take the lead late.
The Patriots, though, came up with a defensive stop and took over possession due to a jump ball.
CF then got a free throw by Marcella Rocha with six seconds left to go ahead by two. Rocha missed the second foul shot, but got the offensive rebound and dribbled out the clock.
CF has now won seven straight and is also 5-0 at home.
The Patriots avenged a loss on the road against Eastern from earlier this season.
Up next, CF heads to Eastern Florida State for a weekend tournament where they will take on No. 1 Gulf Coast State College on Friday at 5 p.m. and No. 2 Chipola College on Saturday at 2 p.m.
