Women's Basketball downs St. Petersburg

ST. PETERSBURG- The College of Central Florida women's basketball won its third straight game, as it routed St. Petersburg College 76-43 on Saturday afternoon.

Thais Oliveira led all scorers with 29 points, which tied her career-high as a member of the Patriots.

Last season, Oliveira, an East Carolina signee, also had 29 points in a win over Hillsborough Community College.

Amanda Melosky (11 points), De'Ja Jeffery (10 points) and Tayler Miller (eight points) also contributed for CF in the win.

"This was our best effort of the year," Patriots coach Tommy Jones said. "Hopefully, we can build off of this and keep getting better."

CF had no trouble in this rematch of the opening round of last year's state tournament, as Oliveira helped her team to its third straight win overall over the Titans and second straight on the road over SPC.

The Patriots return to action on Tuesday night at home with a home game against Indian River State. Tipoff is at 6 p.m.
