OCALA- In leading the College of Central Florida to its best start in five years in women's basketball, Thais Oliveira has been dominant.
Now, the rest of the state is taking notice.
On Tuesday, the 6-foot-2 freshman from Brazil became the first CF player to earn FCSAA State Player of the Week since Sarah Hunter achieved the honor two years ago.
Oliveira led CF to a 3-0 record last week, which included an impressive win over then-No. 2 ranked Tallahassee Community College.
It was the highest ranked opponent the Patriots have knocked off in over a decade.
Oliveira scored 22 points and grabbed six rebounds against TCC in the first win for CF over the Eagles in five years. The win over TCC was also just the second win over a Panhandle Conference opponent in the last four seasons.
From there, Oliveira scored 21 points and dished out six assists in a rout of Eastern Florida State, before she totaled 19 points and 14 rebounds in a road win over St. Petersburg College.
The win over SPC avenged an earlier home defeat, while the win over TCC avenged a road loss.
CF returns to action at home on Thursday afternoon at 5:30 p.m. against Broward College.
Broward is the only team in the state over the last four years that hasn't defeated a program ranked in the FCSAA State Coaches Poll.
Led by Oliveira, CF has moved up to No. 6 in the state coaches poll.
