DAYTONA BEACH- The College of Central Florida softball team saw its 30-game winning streak come to an end, as it lost 7-5 in the second game of a doubleheader to Daytona State College.
CF (50-2, 17-1), the nation's No. 1 ranked team, rolled to a 10-0 win in the opener, as Kalen McGill (27-1), the nation's leader in wins and lowest ERA, shut down the Falcons.
From there, CF would score three more runs in the fifth, including Brooke Barlow's 16th home run of the season, and tacked on six more runs in the sixth to seal the deal. Destinee Lizzmore jump started the six spot with a gram slam over the left field fence.
In the second game, the Patriots found themselves in an unfamiliar situation, trailing 7-2 heading into the final inning. Tiona Hill hit a two-run homer with one out to bring CF to within two.
