OCALA-- The College of Central Florida men's basketball team dropped a 95-94 overtime heart-breaker to Daytona State College on Wednesday night at Patriot Gym. CF falls to 5-2 in the Mid-Florida Conference with five conference games to play.

CF took a slim two-point lead into half and the back-and-forth affair carried over into the second half. There were 16 lead changes on the night and 15 ties in the game, including the 81-81 tie that sent it into overtime.

Rajan Barnes came out firing with a three-pointer right out of the gun in overtime, the Patriots' 11th three of the night, and Jeremy Sheppard followed it up with his third three-pointer to give CF a quick 87-83 lead.

DSC would counter with a run of its own, and the Falcons and Patriots were all tied up again with 42 seconds remaining in overtime.

Sheppard guided the CF offense in the waning seconds of overtime and knocked down what appeared to be the go ahead three-pointer with nine seconds left to put CF ahead 94-93, but DSC's Bryce Williams drove the length of the court and laid it off the glass for two with 2.6 seconds remaining to help the Falcons' edge out the Patriots. Williams finished the night with a game-high 35 points, including six three-pointers.

As a team, CF shot over 50 percent from the field and received 37 points off the bench from its reserves. Four Patriot players finished in double-figures, including Quenton Jackson who put up 21 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Freshman Latrell Jones came off the bench to score 19, while Sheppard dropped 18 points and Rajan Barnes added 13.

CF will be back in action on Saturday when it heads down I-75 for a conference doubleheader at Santa Fe College. The women will tip off at 2 p.m. and the men will follow at 4 p.m.
