#CFMBB DEFEATS NJCAA #21 DAYTONA STATE, IMPROVES TO 3-0 IN MFC

OCALA-- The College of Central Florida men's basketball takes down another nationally ranked opponent on the road, defeating NJCAA No. 21 Daytona State College 91-88 on Saturday afternoon in Daytona Beach. CF now sits atop the Mid-Florida Conference at 3-0 with the win.

The Patriots took a 45-26 lead into the half and led by as many as 15 points in the second half over the FCSAA No.5 team.

Daytona made a comeback in the final minutes, forcing three crucial turnovers and cutting CF's lead to just two after converting 2-of-3 from the free throw line with two seconds left in the game. Jeremy Sheppard helped secure the win for the Patriots after snagging the rebound off the Falcons' final free throw attempt. 

Sheppard continued to light it up from behind the arc, draining six three-pointers and finishing with 23 points on the day. In total, Sheppard has knocked down 15 three-pointers through three conference games.

Quenton Jackson recorded his first double-double of the season with 20 points and 12 rebounds, while Rajan Barnes added 14 points with four three-pointers.

As a team, CF shot 50 percent from the field and three-point line on the afternoon. In conference, the Patriots are averaging 49 percent from the three and 53 percent from the field while averaging 86 points per game through three games. 

CF will return to the court when it hosts Santa Fe College for a conference doubleheader on Wednesday. The women will tipoff at 6 p.m., followed by the men at 8 p.m.
