OCALA-- It was raining three's on Wednesday night in Ocala as the College of Central Florida men's basketball team drained a record 18 three-pointers in the 101-69 win over Florida State College at Jacksonville. The Patriots are now 2-0 in Mid-Florida Conference play.
CF came out shooting a lights-out 63 percent from the field while knocking down 12-of-17 three-pointers in the first half to take a 53-34 lead into the locker room.
The shots kept raining in the second half as the Patriots knocked down six more threes in the rout. Rajan Barnes (career-high 7-of-9) and FCSAA Player of the Week Jeremy Sheppard combined for 12-of-18 three-pointers on the night.
Barnes, sophomore guard from Bronx, NY, finished the night with a career-high 23 points and a team-high 10 rebounds. Sheppard added 21 points, while Latrell Jones recorded a season-high 17 points off the bench and Quenton Jackson had 11.
As a team, CF finished the night shooting over 60 percent from the field and 62 percent from behind the arc.
CF will return to conference play on Saturday when it travels to Daytona State College for a weekend doubleheader with the women. Lady Patriots will tipoff at 2 p.m., followed by the men at 4 p.m.
