OCALA-- The College of Central Florida men's basketball team surged to a triple-digit victory over Harcum College (PA) on Wednesday afternoon at the Josh Artis Classic, hosted by Eastern Florida State College. This is the first time this season the Patriots have hit the 100-point mark.
CF took a one-point lead heading into halftime, but exploded for 60 points in the second half to run away with a 100-82 victory over the Harcum Bears. As a team, the Patriots shot 55 percent from the field and over 40 percent from the three-point line in the win. Newcomers Angelo Johnson and Jeremy Sheppard combined for 8-of-10 3-pointers in the game.
In total, CF had five guys finish in double figures. Sheppard finished with a team high 24 points and eight assists, while sophomore guard Quenton Jackson (23 points), Johnson (18 points, 9 rebounds), Jaron Williams (12 points), and David Anukaenyl (10 points, 13 rebounds) each backed Sheppard in the win.
CF will open up Mid-Florida Conference play on Saturday when it travels to reigning conference champions Eastern Florida State College. Tipoff is set for 4 p.m. The Patriots finished as conference runner-ups to the Titans a year ago.
