OCALA-- The College of Central Florida men's basketball team picked up a quality road win against St. Petersburg College on Friday night.
CF (5-0) jumped out to a 38-21 halftime lead, shooting over 41 percent from the field and holding SPC to just 28 percent. The Titans came charging back in the second half outscoring the Patriots 47-36, but CF held on to win it 74-68.
The Patriots edged the Titans at the free throw line, shooting 62 percent to St. Pete's 50 percent. CF was also able to cash in 19 points off Titan turnovers to secure the win.
Freshman wing Jaron Williams scored a season-high 22 points and grabbed eight rebounds, while four other Patriot players finished in double figures. Ryan Layman added 12 points and grabbed a team-high nine rebounds, while Jeremy Sheppard and Quenton Jackson each put up 11 and Angelo Johnson put up 10 points.
CF returns to the court on Sunday when it hosts ASA-Miami for a matinee tipoff at 2 p.m.
